Researchers at the University of Tokyo have developed a ‘two-armed’ robot that can successfully peel a banana without squashing it. The robot reportedly learns through a ‘deep imitation learning’ process where its developers repeatedly demonstrated the peeling action hundreds of times in order for the robot to copy it.
Though still in its testing phase, researchers believe the robot could be used to repeat simple tasks in areas like factories or the food service industry.
