In world news and current events today, a woman allegedly held her son captive for nearly 3 decades. Police reportedly detained the 70-year-old mother in Stockholm, Sweden, after a relative discovered the man, who is in his forties, in what is being described as a ‘wounded condition.’ Swedish media reports the relative said the man was discovered covered with sores and other injuries, toothless, & lying on a blanket amidst apartment clutter, including two almanacs from 1995 and 1996. Police are investigating exactly how long the man was held. They also plan to conduct an ‘open’ questioning of the man, to hear him describe his living conditions himself, as well as when he might’ve been taken out of school. The man was brought to the hospital, however, the severity of his condition has not been revealed. The man’s mother has been charged with false imprisonment and grievous bodily harm, charges which she denies. A possible motive behind the suspected imprisonment is not yet known.
