Thousands have taken to the streets in the island country to protest the authoritarian government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as simultaneous domestic economic, health care, and food crises. According to Netblock, an internet observatory organization, Cuba’s government has been initiating an internet blackout to restrict social media and messaging platforms since Monday.
