Bodycam footage released by the West Melbourne Police Department shows officers racing against the clock to rescue a man from inside of his car. The November 4 incident shows the vehicle was filled with smoke in a parking lot on Durham Drive. In the video, police hammer the windows with a fire extinguisher to open them.

‘Had it not been for the swift action of these officers, things may have ended differently,’ West Melbourne Police Sgt. Graig Erenstoft said in a statement. The man was hospitalized shortly after his rescue and is reportedly in stable condition. The officers involved were also treated for smoke inhalation.
