China’s astronaut Wang Yaping recently got a haircut at the country’s orbiting space station with the help of two fellow astronauts. Video shows Wang washing her hair and later getting her hair trimmed by two other astronauts, Zhai Zhigang and Ye Guangfu.

They are members of the Shenzhou-13 crew and are currently working on a 6-month space mission.
Getting a haircut in space is not as easy as on Earth. Wang had to keep her body steady and not float away due to the weightless environment. The water used and stray hairs had to be collected and cleaned as soon as possible because they could cause damage to instruments in the space station. Astronauts have to use a special haircut machine—a vacuum cleaner-like device to trim and collect hairs for their safety.
