Breonna Taylor Statue Vandalized in Oakland, CA | NowThis

A statue of Breonna Taylor was found vandalized only two weeks after it was originally erected in Oakland, CA. Leo Carson, the statue’s creator, called the smashing an ‘act of racist aggression aimed at suppressing the fight for Black freedom.’ Oakland police say they are investigating the incident.

Taylor, a 26-year-old Black woman, was shot and killed by police officers in Louisville, KY, during a botched police raid on March 13. Taylor’s death, followed closely by the killing of George Floyd weeks later, triggered massive protests over racial injustice and police brutality across the country.
